Adani Solar Ranks Among World’s Top Solar Module Manufacturers, Emerges as Highest-Ranked Indian Firm
Adani Solar has secured the sixth position in Wood Mackenzie’s Global Solar PV Module Manufacturer Rankings 2026, becoming the highest-ranked Indian company in the assessment. The achievement highlights India’s expanding renewable energy manufacturing capabilities, rapid solar sector growth, and increasing global competitiveness.
The energy research and consultancy firm Wood Mackenzie awarded Adani Solar a Grade A classification, recognizing its strong performance across key parameters, including manufacturing capabilities, technological advancement, financial stability, supply chain resilience, and operational efficiency.
The achievement makes Adani Solar the highest-ranked Indian company in the annual global assessment at a time when India is actively expanding domestic solar manufacturing capacity and reducing reliance on imports. The company improved its standing from eighth place in the previous rankings and remains the only Indian manufacturer to feature among the world’s top ten solar module producers.
Adani Solar, the solar manufacturing arm of Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), was evaluated alongside 48 solar module manufacturers worldwide. The assessment examined factors such as capacity utilization, technology maturity, financial performance, supply chain resilience, and operational strength.
The company is currently in the advanced stages of expanding its integrated manufacturing facility in Mundra, Gujarat, to an annual production capacity of 10 GW. At present, Adani Solar operates 2 GW of ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity, along with 4 GW each of solar cell and solar module manufacturing capacity.
Further strengthening the group’s position in renewable energy, Adani Wind, operating under Adani New Industries Ltd, is the only Indian company featured in BloombergNEF’s Global Top 15 Wind Turbine Manufacturers List.
The company also reported strong business growth, with domestic solar module sales rising 95 percent year-on-year to 1,459 MW during the fourth quarter of FY26.
Adani Solar has consistently earned recognition as a top performer in independent solar module reliability assessments conducted by Kiwa PVEL, highlighting the reliability and quality of its products in global markets.
The development comes as renewable energy continues to play a central role in India’s medium-term strategy to reduce external energy dependence. According to a recent Morgan Stanley report, the country’s renewable energy expansion remains a key pillar of its long-term energy security objectives.
India’s domestic solar manufacturing sector has witnessed rapid growth, supported by Production Linked Incentive schemes and customs duty measures. Data from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy indicates that domestic solar module manufacturing capacity increased from 38 GW in March 2024 to 74 GW in March 2025, while solar cell manufacturing capacity expanded from 9 GW to 25 GW during the same period.
Adani Solar’s rise in the global rankings underscores the growing competitiveness of India’s renewable energy manufacturing industry and highlights the country’s accelerating efforts to establish itself as a major global hub for solar technology production.
